Like many successful A-list singers, the pop punk princess Avril Lavigne is stepping into the fashion industry. According to report, the "Complicated" hitmaker is teaming up with retailer Kohl's to launch her own clothing line, Abbey Dawn, in July 2008.
Naming the brand using her childhood nickname, the 23-year-old describes her clothing line as the mirror to her own style stating that it is "basically, everything I wear". In a press statement, she express her excitement saying, ""I'm thrilled to announce my clothing line Abbey Dawn. Abbey Dawn will aspire to be a unique and accessible reflection of my ever-changing style."
Further, it was said that her line would have "a lot of hot pinks and blacks and stars and purple and zebra" which Kohl's senior executive vice-president Don Brennan said to be a blend of "a rock collection with a feminine edge". The collection will be available only at Kohl's department stores in the U.S. with a retail price of under $50.
By launching her own clothing line, the wife of Deryck Whibley of Sum 41 is joining the list of female stars to pursue fashion career, that include Gwen Stefani, Jessica Simpson and Jennifer Lopez. However, undetermined to be compared to those glamorous stars, Lavigne stressed, "I actually am the designer. What's really important to me is that everything fits well and is well-made, so I try everything on and approve it all."
