As Harry Potter, Daniel Radcliffe pretty much keeps himself and others safe using his magic power, but as himself, he needs others to guard him as his well-being is in danger. According to British newspaper The Sun, the young British actor has been protected by four former SAS (Special Air Service Regiment) bodyguards after he received a death treat from a stalker.
The publication reported that the tightening security around the 18-year-old heartthrob was done because the death treat made the movie bosses worried. Further, Sun reported that the actor who is rumored to be romancing his "Harry Potter" co-star Emma Watson was spotted to be switching cars three times during the filming of "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince" on Saturday (01.03.08) night and his driver for seven years has been stood down until further notice due to the treat.
On the matter, an insider told the newspaper stating, "There is a real concern for Daniel's welfare. The bigwigs haven't said what has been going on. It's all hush-hush - but security has been massively ramped up." Though the nature of the treat is still unclear, the SAS guards are needed for precaution saying, "This isn't about keeping an eye out for the paparazzi - these guys are looking for something far more sinister." The source also added on the SAS guards, "They are all experts in evasive driving, threat assessment and close protection. Daniel has the four guards with him at all times, as well as a new driver. When he travels they use dummy cars and swap vehicles."
