The Academy Award-winning actor for his supporting role in "Good Will Hunting" Robin Williams" has been reported to be heading to splitsville as his wife of 19 years, Marsha Garces Williams, filed for divorce. On Wednesday (26.03.08), the comedian/actor's representative, Mara Buxbaum, has confirmed the reports to AFP stating that Marsha has filed a divorce petition in San Francisco on Monday, March 21.
Though Buxbaum let out confirmation on the divorce, she refused to give further details on the matter. However, court documents(PDF) obtained by TMZ revealed that the second wife of the "Robots" star has cited irreconcilable differences as the grounds of the separation. In the legal documents, it can also bee seen that Marsha claimed that she and Williams have separated since December 31, 2007. Further, the former nanny-turned-producer sought to have a joint-custody for Cody Alan, their son, with Williams.
Williams' marriage to Marsha has long being filled with problems. Back in 2006, Williams checked himself into rehab in Oregon following reports that she threatened to leave him. Star magazine reported that at the time, Williams told a friend that he would do anything to keep his marriage. "I'll do whatever it takes to get my marriage back on track," said the funnyman." I don't want to lose her and I will do anything to win her back."
Williams and Marsha met when he was still married to his first wife Valerie Valardi and she was working as his first son's nanny. Soon after his divorce to Valardi, Williams married her on April 30, 1989. Together, they have two children of their own, 18-year-old daughter Zelda Rae and 16-year-old Cody.
