The depicter of flamboyant and eccentric pirates Captain Jack Sparrow in "Pirates of the Caribbean" series Johnny Depp was reportedly being persuaded with a lucrative deal by American condom giant Trojan. According to reports, the "Sweeney Todd" star has been offered an astounding $10 million from the Trojan bosses to became the brand's new face.
Reportedly, the rubber brand's toppers have been pursuing the 44-year-old Academy Award-nominated actor to front a series of television ads for the Magnum condoms, which are Trojan's new line of safe sex rubber, to improve the sales in the U.S. Though it is said that Depp has yet to decide on the offer, it is further reported that the executives on the advertising campaign have begun to brainstorm the slogan ideas. One of which allegedly read, "Stand up with Johnny for safer sex."
Aside from the economic factor, it was said that Depp's involvement in the ads would further inspire an anti-AIDS campaign in sending free condoms to less economically developed countries. "We'd welcome seeing a major Hollywood star helping to promote the cause," explained a spokeswoman for California's Safer Sex Awareness Campaign. "And there's no one bigger than Johnny."
