A woman who was ordered to stay away from John Cusack has been arrested. Reportedly, the alleged stalker was arrested outside Cusack's home in Malibu, California on Sunday, March 30, 2008. A spokesman for the Sheriff's Department on Monday, March 31, 2008, has identified the suspect as Emily Leatherman.
Chronologically, the Los Angeles Sheriff's officers were called to 2400 block of Malibu Road about 07.00 P.M. (30.03.08) after a taxi driver reported that a passenger was refusing to pay the fare for a ride to that area. When the officers were responding to the situation, they were flagged down by Cusack. Sherrif's spokesman Steve Whitmore said, "Apparently, Mr. Cusack flagged down one of our deputies and told him that this woman had been stalking him."
Further, according to Whitmore, Leatherman was accused on suspicion of felony stalking, violating a restraining order and petty theft. He added that the officers also found evidence for the arrest but he would not explain further details. The 33-year-old woman was reportedly held in $15,000 bail.
Previously, the actor has filed papers requesting the restraining order against Leatherman in June 2005. In his papers, Cusack stated that the woman regularly showed up at his home, office and places of business and had rerouted her mail to be delivered to his address. He said in his request, "This person is showing unusual interest by stalking, throwing long letters of interest over my fence in bags with rocks and screwdrivers inside, making unannounced visits to offices of people I work with in an attempt to meet with me and listing my address as her own during a recent arrest."
