The boyfriend of the "Ella Enchanted" star Anne Hathaway Raffaelo Follieri has once again found himself in a legal trouble. Reportedly, Follieri was taken into police custody after being accused of trying to pass a bad check. The Italian property developer was arrested by New York Police Department on Thursday, April 3, 2008.
According to TMZ, the actress' boyfriend was trying to pass through the check for around $250,000. A source told TMZ that the check was written for around $250,000, but it doesn't fit to his credit limit in the bank. Allegedly, Follieri might give the check to fool a public-relations firm.
Reportedly, Washington, D.C. court has ordered Follieri to pay a public relations $250,000 firm for work done on his behalf. However a source told Usmagazine.com that the developer's arrest might be a big misunderstanding saying, "He was not brought by police - and he was not handcuffed. This is a misunderstanding that his lawyers are already sorting out." The spokesman of N.Y. Police Departement Detective Martin Speechley even told People that he has since been released.
Previously, the Wall Street Journal reported that Ron Burkle has filed lawsuit against Follieri. In the lawsuit, Hathaway's beau allegedly squandered $1.3 million in business funds to support his extremely lavish lifestyle. However, Follieri denied the reports.
