Madonna's Adoption to David Banda Closer to Finalization's efforts to formally adopt her Malawian child David Banda is reportedly nearing its goal. Reportedly, the pop singer will soon see her adoption paper being finalized after the adoption gets the support from Malawi's government. The government is said to be urging the Malawi High Court to legally approve the adoption. Further, it is reported that the government has sent a confidential document, which is signed by Probation Officer S. Chisale at the Ministry of Women and Child Development, to the Court.

According to Reuters, the Malawi High Court has received a recommendation from the country's government which revealed that the Malawian government has approved her adoption. Reportedly, the government stated in the document that Madonna and her husband Guy Ritchie have been found to be the suitable parents for the boy. "In the best interest of the child, I do recommend the petitioners to your Lordship for your consideration that they be granted an adoption order having proved that they are suitable parents and satisfied the conditions in the Interim Adoption Order," the report read.

Reportedly, Madonna will appear in front of the court for an adoption hearing. Madonna is said to make a trip to Malawi in April 2008 for the court hearing. However, her lawyers have asked the court to move the date to the end of April.

The pop star and Ritchie has begun adoption proceedings for the 2-year-old since 2006. However, the adoption has been controversial because the "Like a Virgin" singer was given special treatment. Aside from that, the laws in Malawi also prevent non-citizens to adopt in the country.
