The six-time Grammy-winning R 'n' B singer
Toni Braxton has been reported to have spent a night at a Las Vegas hospital on Monday (07.04.08) night. Reports claimed that the 40-year-old singer has been admitted to the St. Rose Dominican Hospital because she is said to be suffering from a chest pain.
According to Flamingo Las Vegas hotel-casino and Harrah's Entertainment Inc. spokeswoman Deanna Pettit, the "Un-break My Heart" hitmaker is in "good condition" and thus is expected to be released on Tuesday (08.04.08) afternoon. However, Pettit further continued to note that Braxton won't be able to immediately return to perform at her live show "Toni Braxton: Revealed".
Though it wasn't clear what causes Braxton's chest pain, reports linked Braxton's recent health scare condition to her heart condition as she has previously admitted to suffer from pericarditis, an inflammation of the lining of the heart. Earlier this year, the successful singer, who has been chosen to be the spokesperson for the American Heart Association, has open up about her condition. In February 2008, she told People about the pericarditis stating, "I found out about five or four years ago. I've also been diagnosed with hypertension."
Following her hospitalization reports, it is being reported that her "Toni Braxton: Revealed" show on Tuesday (08.04.08) has been canceled to give Braxton time to recover. "We wish Toni a quick recovery and would like her to take the time she needs to regain optimal health," said Flamingo president Don Marrandino. "We are looking forward to her return at the end of the week." Concerning the Wednesday (09.04.08) show, Pettit revealed that no decision about the show's cancellation has been taken. Additionally, it is said that Flamingo hotel is offering refunds to the cancelled Tuesday show.
Regarding the earlier reports claiming that the singer/actress was rushed to the hospital after one of her performance. E! News reported that there are no "Revealed" show scheduled for Monday. Further, the site also claimed that hotels officials have clarified that Braxton was not at the hotel at the time. Meanwhile, about her Las Vegas show, Braxton has been performing at the Flamingo since August 2006 and her scheduled performances the following Thursday, Friday and Saturday are being held in the vintage 720-seat Flamingo Showroom.
