Troubled singer Amy Winehouse is said to have left her Judaism to become a Catholic. She did that in an attempt to show unity toward her imprisoned husband Blake Fielder-Civil.
Blake, who is jailed out of assault and conspiring to pervert the course of justice, apparently has a daily meeting with the prison chaplain while waiting for his trial. In knowing this, Amy then decided to turn to the Roman Catholic faith and wear rosary beads given by a friend to show a devotion to Blake. A source said, "She was given the rosary beads by a friend and wears them in devotion to Blake."
It was just a year ago that Amy decided to persuade Blake to become Jewish as she prepared for their wedding ceremony. "Amy has asked Blake to convert to Judaism. He isn't religious so it's no skin off his nose. He will do anything she wants and has spoken to her dad about it," said a friend.
Amy previously was rumored to have an affair with Alex Haynes, her manager's assistant and thus planned to divorce Blake. However, the same source who said that Amy embraced Catholicism said that the rumors weren't true. "Despite rumors, she is not with anyone else," the source added.
