After getting married on May 17, Ashlee Simpson and Pete Wentz have finally confirmed that they are expecting their first child. The couple announced the happy news on Wednesday, May 28, on a website Pete is associated with, Friendsorenemies.com.
"While many have speculated about this, we wanted to wait until after the first trimester to officially confirm that we are expecting our first child," Ashlee and Pete wrote on the site. Moreover they added, "This is truly the most joyous time in our lives and we are excited to share the happy news and start our family."
In other Ashlee news, she is changing her name from Ashlee Simpson to Ashlee Simpson-Wentz in an attempt to honor hubby Pete. She has announced that she will privately be Ashlee Wentz and professionally be Ashlee Simpson-Wentz. "I think that that's something that a woman should do when they're marrying a man. It's a tradition that I think is a great tradition," she told People.
As for Pete, he fully realized that Ashlee has her own right in changing her name, saying "These decisions with Ashlee and her name are all completely up to Ashlee. I want her to do these kinds of things the way she wants to do them." Feeling so honored, he then continued, "Oh man, I was like upgrade me! You know what I'm saying? The Wentz family, our Christmas card just got upgraded! It feels insane. It feels unreal."
