After dating for two years, actor Mario Lopez and her "Dancing With the Stars" girlfriend, Karina Smirnoff, have called it quits. The split news comes from the dancer herself, who told New York Post that they both want to concentrate on their career, thus decided to end their relationship.
"He's a great guy. I think the world of him, but I think we're both concentrating on our careers right now," Karina revealed to the publication. As for Mario, he commented on the split, "Karina and I have the utmost respect for each other. She is a phenomenal and talented woman. I support her always and feel blessed to have her in my life."
Meanwhile, Karina's publicist Melissa Berger confirmed the split to E! Online, saying "Karina has parted ways with her two-year relationship with Mario Lopez." Melissa then added, "The relationship wasn't heading in the right direction."
A month ago, Mario and Karina's romance was still good as the two were seen together during a Mexican holiday. Last week, the two were also photographed together during a beach vacation in Miami, but Karina recently revealed to New York Post that the ocean-side photoshoot was merely a publicity stunt.
