Reese Witherspoon and Ryan Phillippe Resolve Divorce Issues

Actress Reese Witherspoon and actor Ryan Phillippe have resolved their divorce issues on Thursday, June 12.

Reese Witherspoon and Ryan Phillippe have finally resolved their divorce issues on Thursday, June 12. Los Angeles court records indicated that financial and custody settlements have been reached.

The divorce document reads, "(The court finds) the parties have settled all their remaining issues in these proceedings." Meanwhile, Reese and Ryan have continually sought joint legal custody of their two children together, Ava and Deacon.

Reese and Ryan got engaged in December 1998, then married in 1999. In October 2006, the couple announced that they decided to formally separate. The following month, the "Legally Blonde" star filed for divorce, citing irreconcilable differences.

After Reese and Ryan got preliminary divorce status, they moved on to new relationships. The actress has been dating her co-star Jake Gyllenhaal since March 2007, while the "I Know What You Did Last Summer" star is romancing Australian actress Abbie Cornish.

In other Reese news, she visited Japan as Avon Global Ambassador to bring a message of empowerment and hope to the Asia Pacific region. Dressed in a traditional Japanese kimono, she also attended an intimate Tea Ceremony in Tokyo, where she met female breast cancer survivors.

During the ceremony Reese said, "As Avon's Global Ambassador, I'm honored to have this opportunity to meet with such extraordinary women, and experience a highlight of Japanese culture." She moreover continued, "While their courage is inspiring, I was saddened to hear that only about of women in Japan receive regular breast cancer screening. The lack of testing equipment and breast cancer experts in Japan means that many women here do not have access to the medical technology and care that is critical to diagnose and fight this deadly disease."
