Anne Hathaway becomes single again as she has split from her longtime boyfriend, businessman Raffaello Follieri. Daily Mail exclusively reported that the pair have ended their three years romance over the weekend.
According to the publication, Anne decided to end the relationship because of a business scandal which was recently linked to Raffaello. His charity Follieri Foundation, which funded vaccination programs in developing countries, was under investigation of the New York State Attorney General's Office. Previously, he was sued by a former business associate for bouncing a $215,000 cheque, but then set to free from criminal charges as he settled the bill.
Anne actually was really sad to broke the relationship, but she found out that the scandal was threatening her career. "It's heartbreaking for her to dump him, and she's devastated that it's come to this, but she really didn't have a choice. His scandals were hurting her reputation," a source told Mail Online.
According to the source, Anne and Raffaello were regularly spotted arguing on the Boston set of her upcoming movie "
Bride Wars". "They fought so much while Anne was making the movie, she genuinely started to wonder if the relationship was worth all the pain," a friend explained. The pal then added that "The Princess Diaries" star also heard rumors from her friends in New York that Raffaello cheated on her with other women while she was away filming.
The pal stated, "Raffaello would only ever visit her on sets for short periods of time." Furthermore the pal continued, "He was very caught up in his social life and making connections in New York, and stories would get back to Anne about his late nights and carousing, usually with models in the immediate vicinity."
Meanwhile, Anne apparently enjoyed her single status and started to find someone to be her new boyfriend. She formed a friendship with co-star in her new movie "
Get Smart",
Steve Carell. Another friend said, "She seemed to really be enjoying her freedom, and making new friends in L.A., especially Steve. Anne really wants to find a guy like Steve, and if he weren't married, I have no doubt she would date him in a second." The friend then added, "Even though she loves being near her family, a move to Los Angeles could mean better roles, more money, and a better pool of potential boyfriends."
