It seems that lesbian Ellen DeGeneres and her girlfriend, Aussie actress Portia de Rossi, will tie the knot in a short time from now. The couple admitted that they had prepared for their nuptials and even already set a wedding date.
Ellen, who has just picked up a trophy for "Outstanding Talk Show Host" at the 2008 Daytime Emmy Awards, said that Portia has already had a ring. "Yes, we have set a wedding date. Portia has a ring. It's a Neil Lane ring," she told reporters backstage at the Kodak Theatre, on Friday, June 20. The host then expressed her feeling about the upcoming wedding, saying "How do I feel about it? I obviously feel like it's long overdue. I think someday people will look back on this like women not having the right to vote and segregation and anything else that seems ridiculous that we don't all have the same rights."
Ellen revealed she planned to take Portia's mom from Australia for the wedding ceremony. She also confessed that arranging a nuptials is not easy, saying "Planning a wedding is stressful." She, moreover, joked that her many Emmys "will be on top of the cake," and that the wedding is going to be a big one, saying "It's crazy. My gardener is now invited." The host finally added that she and Portia will "have incredible people singing" at their wedding, and "It's very exciting."
