Ruben Studdard and his girlfriend Surata Zuri McCants that a wedding is on the way for them. The couple have already engaged and obtained a marriage license, a representative for the singer confirmed exclusively to Usmagazine.
According to the rep, Ruben and Surata obtained a marriage license at the Shelby County Probate Office in Birmingham Alabama on Monday, June 23. The marriage license is valid for 30 days.
Ruben is the winner of the 2nd season of "American Idol" television program. His third album, "The Return", which goes back to his R&B roots but is different from his previous album, was released in October 2006. Between his second and third albums, he began a diet and fitness program to deal with his weight since he has a family history of diabetes and hypertension. He lost over 70 pounds on a vegetarian diet.
