Spice Girls' Melanie Brown has been honored to host a spectacular pageant, where a string of beauties from many countries compete to become the most beautiful woman in the universe. The Scary Spice, alongside Jerry Springer, will host 2008 Miss Universe Pageant which takes place in Vietnam, People magazine reported exclusively.
Melanie told the publication that she was extremely happy to be involved in the pageant, which will be held on July 13. "I'm thrilled to be a co-host of the Miss Universe pageant. I believe the diversity and dedication that the pageant brings inspires and empowers young women across the globe," she said in a statement.
Melanie is currently working on a solo album that she plans to release later this year. Concerning her new album, she told People in May "It's kind of pop because that's what I am, but it's pop with a bit of an edge. I'm about six or seven songs deep into it."
In other Melanie news, she has been taken through L.A. airport by wheelchair after suffering a trapped nerve. Her spokesman told Daily Mirror, "She suffers from a trapped nerve in her hip, which flares up on a plane."
