Ellen DeGeneres and her lesbian lover Portia de Rossi plan to hold their nuptials at the Riviera Resort and Spa in Palm Springs.

It is an open secret that Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi will tie the knot in a big way. Latest news claimed that the lesbian couple are planning a lavish wedding at the Riviera Resort and Spa in Palm Springs, California.

News of Ellen and Portia's wedding place was first reported by New York Post, which quoted a source as saying, "They didn't sign the contract yet, but they're working out final details and security." Further, rumors began to swirl that the couple will get married in October after the resort is renovated.

"The hotel is doing $70 million in renovations that will be done in October. They said they wanted to have the ceremony in the tropical gardens by the pool and the reception in the grand ballroom. They will also close a significant portion of the hotel, so it looks big," the source explained. Meanwhile, Portia will be taking the name DeGeneres after tying the knot with Ellen.

Ellen, who has been dating Portia since 2004, has given her a $60,000 three-carat pink diamond ring to celebrate the forthcoming nuptials. The actress has reportedly been flashing the rock to her friends and family.

It was just a week ago that Ellen and Portia admitted they were preparing for their nuptials and had already set a wedding date. The host, who picked up a trophy for "Outstanding Talk Show Host" at the 2008 Daytime Emmy Awards, confessed to reporters backstage at the event on Friday, June 20, saying "Yes, we have set a wedding date. Portia has a ring. It's a Neil Lane ring."
