It was an unfortunate that Queen Latifah's summer vacation turned disaster. The rapper was injured in a motorcycle accident while touring the U.S. Virgin island of St. Thomas, according to reports.
National Enquirer reported that Queen rented a motor scooter in May for the tropical vacation. However, the actress' summer getaway was brought to a halt when she lost control of the vehicle and "went flying." A source told the publication, "She's lucky she wasn't killed. Fortunately, there weren't any cars or other scooters behind her when the accident occurred."
According to the source, Queen injured her right elbow and knee in the accident, but refused to seek treatment at a nearby hospital. "Luckily, she didn't break any bones. But she was suffering and was prescribed painkillers," the source added.
Queen's beloved policeman brother, Lance, was killed in a freak motorcycle accident in 1992. The actress has become totally changed ever since, starting a charity foundation. She formed the nonprofit Lancelot H. Owens Foundation to fund scholarships for children. "I'll go to my brother's grave, sit next to him and chat, and I'll talk to God, and for some reason, I just come out of there totally rejuvenated," she told the New York Daily News.
