Gwen Stefani Joins Shoe Designers to Redesign Dorothy's ShoesPregnant singer will join 19 footwear designers to interpret the Wizard of Oz's Dorothy's iconic red shoes. The singer turned designer, under her L.A.M.B label, will redesign the ruby slippers for the upcoming 70th anniversary of movie "The Wizard of Oz", with a lot of help from Swarovski.

Gwen apparently will secure her status as a bonafide designer, taking part in the project alongside a string of outstanding shoe designers, including Alberta Ferretti, Christian Louboutin, Diane von Furstenberg, Giuseppe Zanotti, Jimmy Choo, Manolo Blahnik, Moschino, Oscar de la Renta, and Roger Vivier. They are set to display their designs at the Saks Fifth Avenue department store in New York and designer shoe salon during the city's Fashion Week in September.

Further, the collection will then tour the U.S. after being displayed at the tents at Bryant Park during September's New York Fashion Week. Finally, the designs will be auctioned off to benefit the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation next year.

Back in 1939, "The Wizard of Oz" presented schoolgirl Dorothy Gale who lives on a farm with her Aunt Em and Uncle Henry, but dreams of a better place "somewhere over the rainbow." The magical ruby slippers transported Dorothy back home from the magical land of Oz in the family film epic.
