Smashing photographer's camera, Pete Doherty has pleaded guilty for criminal damage and got a rough fine.
Pete Doherty has been ordered to pay $2,000 for breaking a camera belonging to a photographer, Catherine Mead. Firmly, Pete has to pay Catherine $1,800 for the damaged equipment. Meanwhile, the remaining $200 fine is for court fees.
The Babyshambles' frontman smashed Catherine's camera on August 22 last year. He had lost his temper when finding that she had been following him and tried to snap him with his family during a day out in Somerset before returning to a clinic for drug treatment.
He was then arrested by police in London on December 3, 2007 and admitted damaging the camera. The court accepted his plea, saying that there was a degree of provocation from Catherine before the incident. Yet, still Pete pleaded guilty to the criminal damage and therefore has to pay compensation for the damage.
According to a source, the decision has been ruled by the judges on July 24. Outside the court house, the star said, "Yeah, it was okay today, it should have been sorted out ages ago to be honest. It's been hanging over me for a long time."
