Rihanna has signed a deal with electronics retailer Circuit City to be tha face and sound of the company's back-to-school campaign.
Rihanna has become the latest celebrity who is featured in a back-to-school campaign. Unlike
Vanessa Hudgens, who stars in U.S. Clothing firm Sears' back-to-school campaign, the "Umbrella" hit maker has been booked by electronics retailers Circuit City to be the face and sound of their new ads with the same theme.
According to Billboard.com., the back-to-school commercials, which will start running next week, will include Rihanna's latest single "Disturbia" along with clips from the music video. As for her image, it will be featured in online ads for the Richmond Va.-based company.
Furthermore, a mobile offering is available on circuitcity.com, which let users download a free voice tone of Rihanna and exclusive wallpaper images. The singer is set to participate in an online chat on August 20. Troy Yenser, category marketing manager, Circuit City commented on the campaign, "This time tends to be a stressful time for parents. The idea of leveraging technology to stay in touch with friends and family while away at school is in line with how Rihanna does things on her tours."
Rihanna's "Disturbia" video has been launched online on Tuesday, July 22 and available exclusively on iTunes. Meanwhile, the clip debuted on MTV's TRL and BET's 106 on Thursday, July 24 and premieres on VH1 this Saturday, July 26. Anthony Mandler, who directed the latest video and also Rihanna's "Take a Bow" one, set it in dark and almost creepy scenes which receive a great deal of compliments. "The video was professionally done and the cinematography was all good," said a fan in a testimony.
