Mario Lopez has been chosen to replace Mark McGrath and Dayna Devon as the new solo host of 'Extra'.

Mario Lopez was considered by producers of "Extra" as a likeable and sought-after host. Thus, the model has been chosen to replace co-hosts Mark McGrath and Dayna Devon as the new solo host of the syndicated news show.
The producers announced on Monday, July 28 that Mario will take over Mark and Dayna's job once the show returns for its 15th season on September 15. "Mario ... has established himself as a highly engaging, likeable and sought-after host and personality," Hilary Estey McLoughlin, president of Telepictures Productions, said in a statement. As for Mark, he plans to focus on his musical career, according to the producers' announcement. He is currently recording a new album with his band,
Sugar Ray.
Mario, who has been named by People mag as "The Hottest Bachelor" of 2008, joined 'Extra' in January 2007 as he co-hosted the weekend edition of the program. He is a "rising star with a winning personality both on- and off-camera," senior executive producer Lisa Gregorisch-Dempsey said. As for Dayna, she will serve as a substitute host for Mario.
