The actor's name has been included in a $250 million lawsuit filed by an ex-scientologist against the "Top Gun" star's church.

Tom Cruise as the latest reports have just stated that he is being involved in a $250 million lawsuit against the Church of Scientology. The lawsuit was being filed by a former scientologist Peter Letterese who alleged the church along with its members, including Tom, has been harassing him since he left the church.
Peter has actually filed in the lawsuit to the Florida's Southern District Court on July 15 but it wasn't until recently that Tom's involvement is known by the media. Moreover, on the lawsuit, the ex-scientologist also stated that the church should be investigated under RICO (Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organization) because he feels that the church is a criminal syndicate.
Revealing Tom's involvement on the case peter told the press that the actor is the right hand of the church's leader David Miscavage that the "Top Gun" star has directly help the all of the church's major activity. "He has assisted the syndicate in acquiring funds and [made] his own donations of money believed to be in the multiple tens of millions of dollars," Peter said.
However, according to an investigator Paul Barresi, that Tom's involvement in the lawsuit is just Peter's effort to get public and media attention more than anything else. Meanwhile, the actor or his lawyer hasn't released any statements yet answering the allegation.
