After Heath Ledger died, Christian Bale arrested, tragedy comes again to the other cast of "The Dark Knight", Morgan Freeman. Memphis station WMC-TV reported that the Academy Award winner was hospitalized after his car went off the edge of the road and overturned several times before coming to a stop. The accident happened in Tallahatchie County, Mississippi, on August 3, at 11:30 P.M.
Ben William, Mississippi Highway Patrol Sgt, said "The vehicle went off the edge of the road and flipped several times." He also added that the accident didn't involve another car.
Williams suspected Freeman could fall asleep at the wheel because his body didn't infect with drug or alcohol in the wreck. "There's no indication that either alcohol or drugs were involved," he said.
According to Clay McFerrin, editor of The Charleston Sun-Sentinel newspaper, who arrived on the scene shortly after the crash, rescuers tried to save Freeman and a female passanger from his crumpled "1997 Nissan Maxima" using hydraulic tools. Freeman was evacuated via medical helicopter to a hospital in Memphis. "He has a broken arm, broken elbow and minor shoulder damage but he is in good spirits," said Donna Lee, Freeman's publicist. "He is going to have surgery this afternoon or tomorrow to correct the damage. He says he'll be okay and is looking forward to a full recovery."
About the female passenger who sat beside the actor, her name was Demaris Meyer. No information about her latest condition.
