After gaining a massive success in romantic comedy movie, "Maid in Manhattan" in 2002, Jennifer Lopez a.k.a J.Lo and friends are set to bring the movie into hourlong TV series. According to reports, ABC is in negotiations to adapt the movie for television.
"The show is a different maid in a different Manhattan," said Chad Hodge who will write "Maid in Manhattan" TV series. He stated that the series will focus on the 'maid' interactions with co-workers instead of with wealthy socialites, gushing "While the hotel's clientele is an obvious part of this world, I'm more interested in the downstairs part of 'Upstairs, Downstairs.'"
Hodge, who usually writes plot for ABC, commented about his idea making "Maid in Manhattan"'s script, saying "I imagine being a writer in Hollywood is often very similar to being a maid in Manhattan." Furthermore, Hodge told the Hollywood Reporter that he makes a good team work with the team especially the main actress, J.Lo. He praised the beauty as "a fountain of ideas." He even added that the Marc Anthony's wife has an important part for the series. "She will be very integral in the pilot and series," he said.
"Maid in Manhattan" is predicted to be a good companion for ABC's "Ugly Betty," which story also focuses on young and hardworking lady who has a big dream. J.Lo and Joe Roth will be executive producers for the series and Elaine Goldsmith-Thomas will be the producer.
"Maid in Manhattan" movie, which was released on December 13, 2002 earned $18,711,407 in the U.S. opening weekend and made it the number one at the box office. It grossed $93,932,896 and has been J.Lo's highest grossing film even though critics blasted the film.
