Musician John Mayer finally opened up about the reasons behind his break-up from actress Jennifer Aniston, insisting that the split was friendly.

Single John Mayer has finally opened up about the reasons behind his split from girlfriend Jennifer Aniston. A week after their split, the musician revealed that the break-up was in friendly way, insisting that it's amicable.

"It's the most normal thing in the world. There's no lying, there's no cheating, there's no nothing," John said in a statement. The 30-year-old also hit back reports claiming he parted ways with the ex-wife of actor Brad Pitt because he couldn't commit to one woman. "People are different, people have different chemistry, different lives. You're either a cheater or you break up and I'm not the first one, I'm the second one," added the singer who is nine years younger than Jennifer.

John further explained the reasons behind their break-up, saying "I ended a relationship to be alone, because I don't want to waste somebody's time if something's not right." "Jennifer Aniston is the smartest, most sophisticated person I think I have ever met. I think she's great. She's one of the most lovely people I have ever met in my life," he said of the "Friends" star.

A source previously told the Daily Mirror that John dumped the actress because he wasn't ready to take their relationship to the next level of commitment. "There's been a bit of tension for some time. They initially opted for a break, hoping a trial split might make them stronger. Sadly it doesn't seem to have worked," the source quoted as saying. "John took the decision to end things as he felt he just wasn't ready for the level of commitment that Jennifer deserved. Contrary to reports, Jen didn't want to have kids or marry this year, but she did want to set a timetable for their future together," the source told the publication.
