Avril Lavigne's concert in Malaysia had previously been canceled. But the Canadian singer has now confirmed that she will be performing in the country.
The "My Happy Ending" singer will go ahead with her canceled concert in the country after winning the approval from Malaysian government. "Well, I've actually been approved by the government to play a show," Avril told MTV. The 23-year-old singer revealed that 10,000 tickets have already been sold, saying "I've already sold 10,000 tickets there, so I will be going to put on a concert for the fans."
"They tend to, you know, sometimes not want Western artists in their country," Avril continued. And the rock singer confessed she respects the culture. "I respect that, but at the same time, you know, there's people that listen to music there and want to see their idols and stuff, so it's all good: been approved by the government and I'm going to go put on a show and have fun," added the "Complicated" hitmaker.
Avril's Malaysian concert was previously canceled after the Islamic opposition claimed the show as being "too sexy". The Arts, Culture and Heritage Ministry has decided not to permit her show because its content is unsuitable to Malaysian culture on the eve of the country's Independence Day on August 31.
