Following reports claiming Spice Girls' Melanie C is expecting her first child, the singer herself has confirmed the happy news on her website. The Sporty Spice posted the news on Friday, August 22, announcing that she is indeed pregnant with baby number one.
Mel C wrote on her website that she and boyfriend Thomas Starr are happy as they are expecting their first child. "Some happy news! Well, I can now announce that Tom and I are expecting a baby and we are very happy," she wrote about the confirmation.
"As I'm sure you'll understand, we needed time to wait for results and tell our families. Thank you for all your kindness, good wishes and support (even if it was based on speculation!)," the singer added, referring to British tabloid rumors. "I will be taking it easy but am also excited to start writing for the fifth album. I'll need some time off to be a mum, but, before you know it, I'll be back."
Previously, British tabloid reported that Mel and her long-time boyfriend are going to be parents for their first child. "Melanie is over the moon at the prospect of becoming a mum for the first time," a source revealed. Moreover, Melanie will be the latest member of Spice Girls to become a mom.
