British girl group, Girls Aloud, reportedly is planning to find a new member by holding an audition. The recruitment will be held as a part of new television music talent show, "X Factor" style series, which is to be broadcast in 2009.
A source revealed to Britain's Sunday Mirror newspaper that the band's members, Cheryl Cole, Nadine Coyle, Sarah Harding, Nicola Roberts and Kimberley Walsh, want to give an opportunity for the winner to feel the taste of success, saying "The girls have never forgotten that reality TV gave them their break. Now they want to give someone else the chance to enjoy a taste of the success they have enjoyed." And the girls are on their way to pick the judging panel.
Furthermore, the girls also expect that the winner could be recruited as the sixth member of Girls Aloud. "The winner will get to perform with the group on stage during a one-off concert, but the girls hope they'll be able to discover a hidden talent who could join the band as a fully paid-up member," the source explained. "The girls have a huge amount of commitments outside the band. It makes sense to look for someone who can stand in if one of them can't make a show."
Meanwhile, there haven't been any comments from the band's representative, but a source close to the band revealed the girls are still discussing with a production company to do the show.
Girls Aloud itself was formed through ITV1 reality series "Pop Stars: The Rivals" in 2002. Their hits were popular and loved by public. Guinness World Record noted them as "Most Successful Reality TV Group" in the 2007 edition.
