Selena Gomez stated that she is honored to carry Latin legend Selena's name and hopes to emulate her success in her own career.

. She also hoped that she can emulate the late singer's success in her own career. She gushed, "I would love to bring back that person to life and educate people on her because a lot of people don't know who she is and I think she's wonderful."
It has been reported that the 16-year-old actress-singer, who plays as Alex Russo in Disney's children situation comedy "Wizards of Waverly Place" and sings its opening theme, recently has met legend Selena's brother. She said, "It was very emotional when he came up to me and said my sister was named Selena and I said I was named after her. It was a really powerful moment." Gomez was so touched and excited that she finally called her family soon after the emotional moment. She said to her family that it is "really a big deal" that she is "named after such a wonderful person" like Selena.
Selena's short life was made into film "Selena" in 1997. The film is directed by Gregory Nava.. It also features Jennifer Lopez
as Selena, who is murdered in the middle of her career by her friend and the ex-president of her fan club Yolanda Saldivar on March 31, 1995.

The teen sensation happily strolled around in the market's ground in a slow and relaxed way, wearing black sunglasses and bringing a white bag while picking up a bouquet of flowers along the way.
