Reese Witherspoon has shown her positive side as a famous star. Being chosen as the global ambassador of "Speak Out Against Domestic Violence," the beauty comes to Sao Paulo, Brazil, to raise awareness for women who are affected by domestic violence. The campaign was first launched by the UN Development Fund for Women (UNIFEM) and the Avon cosmetics company in 2004.
Knowing that one Brazilian woman in five suffers violence at the hands of a man, Reese revealed that she feels pity with a woman who has experienced domestic violence. "There isn't a woman in the world that doesn't have a friend or a partner who's actually experiencing some sort of violence against them," she told a media conference in Sao Paulo on Thursday, August 28. "So I think although domestic violence hasn't happened to me personally, I certainly know women who are dealing with this struggle every day."
The star even explained that violence may happen to many types of woman, saying "Domestic violence affects women who are famous, who are not famous, women who have money, women who have no money. This is an issue that crosses all boundaries and it certainly affects everyone."
Reese came to Brazil in order to celebrate the success of Avon's first-ever global fundraising product, the Women's Empowerment Bracelet, which has been sold 1.5 million since it was first launch in March. The beauty even gave one bracelet to a Brazilian woman, Maria da Penha Maia Fernandes, who had been tortured by her own husband.
