Becoming a public figure who receives much attention from public and the media, it's understandable that Beyonce Knowles considers weight as a crucial issue. Talking about the topic in an interview with Marie Claire magazine, she opens up about the weight gaining process that she has experienced for the sake of her role in the drama flick "Cadillac Records" and as well her strict diet when she's forced to lose it for her next role in the psychological thriller "Obsessed".
Being ordered to pack on 20 pounds to play the role of Etta James in "Cadillac Records", Beyonce did admit that she at first had "so much fun" with that. But, she had a change of opinion when she later landed a part in "Obsessed". She confessed, "I had to lose it. I was so angry with myself. I was like, 'Doh! Why do you have to go through this?'"
Getting back into shape, Beyonce revealed her diet secret to Marie Claire, telling the magazine "No chips, no candy, no desserts, no junk food, no fried food."
Diet aside, Beyonce also talked about the future of her singing career. She surprisingly stated "I'm over being a pop star." About that she explained, "I don't wanna be a hot girl. I wanna be iconic. And I feel like I've accomplished a lot. I feel like I'm highly respected, which is more important than any award or any amount of records. I feel like there comes a point when being a pop star is not enough. I am really proud that I am one of the artists that has the opportunity to be on magazine covers and to be in the movies. And I do think that I'm opening doors for more black women, just like Halle Berry and Diana Ross opened doors for me."
