The 2008 MTV Video Music Awards are underway in Los Angeles on Sunday night, September 7. Britney Spears and Chris Brown were among the first to pick up prizes at the ceremony.
Britney, who previously failed to take the award home though she has been nominated 17 times before, successfully won three awards, "Best Female Video", "Best Pop Video" and "Video of the Year", for her video "Piece of Me". Meanwhile, the 19-year-old R'n'B crooner picked up the award as he won "Best Male Video" for "With You".
The 26-year-old singer was really shocked realizing she has won the first three awards of her career. After accepting the Video of the Year trophy, the "Gimme More" singer said, "Wow. I'm in shock right now. I was not expecting this!"
In related news, Chris is reportedly writing songs Britney may record. "I actually wrote a couple songs for her now," he said. However, the "Toxic" singer hadn't yet heard the new tunes. "We're on the same label, so all the executives heard the records and they love the records, so hopefully she'll cut it. But if she doesn't, oh well, we'll go back in the studio and still do some more records for her."
