Always being surrounded by throngs of fans, Zac Efron was attacked by a man, who was thought to be a deranged fan, at Shaftesbury Avenue in London on Wednesday, October 8. At that time, the Disney hunk was accompanied by co-star and girlfriend Vanessa Hudgens.
Zac was leaving West End theater Apollo with Vanessa when a middle-aged man began shouting and pointing at him. The man, who was carrying a laptop computer under one arm at that time, was said to have been lunging towards and trying to grab the actor's hair.
"Some guy was just stood near the door where Zac and Vanessa emerged. He just reached over and grabbed the side of Zac's head. There was no provocation. It all turned into a bit of a mess," an onlooker told Mail Online. "He was shouting all kinds of things at Zac. Their security team eventually dealt with it. They had to bundle Zac into a car, but at one point it looked as though the man was going to be pushed into it with him." The attack was said not to be reported to police, but the security staff had to speak to the man, who lunged at him, dealing with the attack.
Fortunately, Zac was not hurt and even looked recovered and better, being spotted eating together with Vanessa and co-stars, including Ashley Tisdale and Corbin Bleu, at the Floridita restaurant in Soho. A fellow dinner said that the 20-year-old star "was quite relaxed and looked like he was enjoying himself."
Zac and Vanessa were in London for the premiere of their Disney movie "High School Musical 3: Senior Year." The couple was at the Apollo theater to see Josh Hartnett's performance in the stage version of "Rainman."
