Not wanting to be typecast for playing the role of teen hunk Nate Archibald in "Gossip Girl," Chace Crawford revealed that he won't "take the same type of role in the future."
Becoming famous after playing teen hunk Nate Archibald in hit TV series "Gossip Girl,"
Chace Crawford insisted that he won't take the same type of role again. Explaining the reason, the handsome star stated he doesn't want to be a typecast.
"There are a lot of adverse effects of being a certain type, which I am," Chace told American's VMan magazine. "I think the best remedy is to reinvent yourself. I'm not going to take the same type of role in the future," he went on saying. "Look, I wouldn't be in the business if I didn't feel I had what it takes to have longevity. Everyone has a certain castability, or quality they're always going to have to fight."
Besides, Chace admitted he won't rely on his good look to land roles, adding that he wants to follow in the footsteps of senior superstars. "I want to do the edgy independent movies, like
Leonardo DiCaprio did, but you have to balance it out. It's about carving out your leading-man role. 'Fight Club'? Yes! 'X-Men'? Yes! All sorts of different films. 'American Beauty'? Yes! I don't know if I could pull off a
Kevin Spacey, but I'll try!" the actor told when being asked about his obsession.
Aside from his acting career, Chace admitted he is often surrounded by fans, some of whom sometimes make him fun. "I'll be out on the golf course, and some guy will come up to me, sort of sheepishly, and be like, 'Hey, my wife really loves the show. Can I get a picture with you?' They're always super embarrassed," he said.
