After getting through long battle with ex-girlfriend, Shaniqua Tompkins, over their 11-year-old son, Marquise, 50 Cent has now gained closure on the custody agreement. The agreement that was set in Suffolk County Family Court on New York's Long Island on October 22, stated that the rap star will get to spend one weekend a month and one month each summer with his son. He is also granted the time to spend half of his son's spring and winter school vacations and alternate U.S. national holidays.
Although the visitation time from the deal is less than what he requested earlier, 50 reportedly is quite excited with the final result seeing that he will have a chance to be with his son again. About it, 50's lawyer told People saying, "50 is pleased this has been settled and looks forward to spending some quality time with his son." 50 also strengthened his lawyer's statement when speaking outside the Suffolk County Family Court, "I'm happy it's actually done with."
On Tompkins' part, she has been reported to also be satisfied with the settlement. "Despite my feelings for Mr. Jackson, that's Marquise's dad," she said. "I want him to have a positive relationship with his dad." The 32-year-old then added, "He's going to get visitation on his terms. When [Marquise] wants to see his dad...I want him to have a positive relationship with his dad."
The battle between the former couple over the son began when they separated five years ago. The dispute heated when Tompkin's house, bought by the star, was destroyed by fire. Although Marquise and Tompkins only suffered minor injuries, Tompkins blamed the 33-year-old rapper for the fire reasoning that it was 50's way to get her out of the house. However, Cent denied the charge.
