Shocking news comes from socialite Paris Hilton and her rocker boyfriend Benji Madden that they have split up. It was Vanessa Fontana, a contestant on "Paris Hilton's My New BFF", who broke the news, confirming exclusively to Life & Style that the pair are no longer a couple.

"Sadly, it's true," Vanessa told Life & Style. "Paris and Benji have split. I love Paris, and I just want her to be happy. I think that they'll be better as friends."

Vanessa also denied rumors that the breakup is due to Paris' brief reunion with ex-beau Stavros Niarchos this past weekend in Miami. "No, nobody else is involved," she said. "Paris and Benji were loyal and faithful to each other. I was with Paris in Miami, and Stavros came over to our table, and the two of them talked for literally two minutes. It was a friendly conversation. They definitely did not hook up."

Sources claimed that the split is due to the basic differences between them. Benji is a quiet homebody, while Paris is very social, both personally and professionally. "All of Paris' friends have noticed that she hasn't been happy lately," a friend revealed. "Benji told Paris he didn't like the BFFs from her show, and that he disapproves of her friends and doesn't get along with her sister."

And the 27-year-old hotel heiress is reportedly devastated by the split. "She wishes it could be different. Benji always treated her like his princess," the friend said. "He's a really great guy with a big heart and she loves him very much. Maybe at some point in the future, the two of them could try again, but right now, they're just too different as people."
