Leona Lewis sets eyes to team up with some celebrities to perform at Barack Obama's inauguration.
Since a million people are expected to attend Barack Obama's inauguration in Washington DC on January 20, 2009,
Leona Lewis will not let this chance go, as she plans to tie up with rapper
Jay-Z and
Beyonce Knowles in a celebration concert for Obama's inauguration. A source told The Sun about it, saying, "Various inquiries have been made to Leona's people about her availability on January 20. Her team are going through her diary at the moment." The source also added, "They're certainly not averse to shifting things around to accommodate any celebrations for Obama."
Having admiration for the America's President-Elect, British-born Lewis said the day before America's election event, "I think Obama is amazing. He's just so cool and articulate. Nothing fazes him." She also revealed, "It would mean everything for ethnic minorities in that country and every country around the world to have a mixed-race leader of America."
Although Lewis is a British-born star, she has participated in some America's events. When Obama was on the campaign trail, artists such as
will.i.am,
Bruce Springsteen and
P. Diddy gave their support and so did Lewis. She has also united with some of America's biggest female singers, including
Mariah Carey and Beyonce, to record a charity single for an anti cancer campaign named Stand Up To Cancer.
Leona Lewis has claimed an impressive work in her singing career. Entering the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 at number 85 in February 2008, her single "Bleeding Love" rose to number one for four non-consecutive weeks beginning April 5, 2008. Her album, "Spirit" debuted at number one on the U.S. Billboard 200 album chart when it was released in North America in April 2008 making Lewis the first British solo artist to top the chart with a debut album. She rose to fame after winning the third series of "The X-Factor" and winning a 1 million pounds recording contract, therefore becoming the first female winner of the talent show.
