Solange Knowles Struggles to Get Out of Beyonce Knowles' Shadow
As a younger sister of famous singer Beyonce Knowles, 27, Solange Knowles, 22, realizes the consequence of making her name known without being embedded in her sister's name. Although Solange is Beyonce's sibling, Solange has to fight to demo her own songs in front of top music producers since no one wanted to be known for helping out the sister of a superstar.

Although Solange has got success for recording her own album "Sol-Angel and the Hadley St. Dreams", she admits that it's very difficult to win over big names like producers Q-Tip and Pharrell Williams because she has a famous star in the family. However, she is very excited because she has completed her own album with her own talents.

Over her strong-willed effort, Solange said to Britain's Hello magazine, "I can see how people would think that I'm here because of Beyonce. But with this record, that really wasn't in my head. I started this record completely independently - I had no record label, I had no main producer, and everyone turned me down." She continued revealing, "Probably because of that, like, 'We're not going to reward her because she's Beyonce's sister', and I understood that."

Beyonce Knowles and Solange Knowles have chosen to go to the same R&B genre for their career. However, Beyonce has more recording albums and has won more awards as she won 2004's MTV Video Music Award for Best Female Video category, 2004's Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop Award for Top R&B/Hip-hop Artist - Female category, 2004's BET Award for Best Female R&B Artist category and many more.
