It has been revealed that Selena Gomez was born when her mother, Mandy Teefey, was only 16.
Selena Gomez has a secret about her family's past. According to , her mom Mandy Teefey, now 32, gave birth to the "Wizards of Waverly Place" star when she was 16.
Selena was born in New York City on July 22, 1992. However, she was raised by her mother and grandmother in Grand Prairie, Texas near her mom's family. Her mother and biological father, Ricardo Joel Gomez, split when the Disney darling was 5, reports J-14.
The magazine writes that the teen sensation and her mom sometimes lived "paycheck to paycheck", but they pulled through. When Selena was 13, her mother married Brian Teefey, who is three years younger than her mom.
And the teen actress got into acting because of her mommy, Mandy. "My mom did theater, and I love memorizing her lines with her and watching her rehearse," Selena said. "I told her that I wanted to do what she did but on television."
