Actress Evan Rachel Wood confirmed to IESB exclusively on Wednesday, December 10 at the trip for her movie "The Wrestler", in which she stars as Stephanie Robinson, in Beverly Hills that she will portray Mary Jane in "Spider-Man" Broadway musical. She also talked to the media that the production has been in development for some time.
Another information that Wood had shared was the rehearsal will start in June 2009. Meanwhile, she hinted Jim Sturgess, her co-star in "Across the Universe", may be Peter Parker. The actress, who is Marilyn Manson's ex-girlfriend, said the executives are, "still trying to convince him."
The "Spider-Man" musical will be helmed by director Julie Taymor, who won two Tony Awards for directing Broadway musical "The Lion King", making her the first woman to receive a Tony Award for directing a musical. Bono and The Edge of U2 will provide the music and lyrics. Meanwhile the show reportedly will hit the Broadway stage by mid-2010.
Evan Rachel Wood formerly dated Marilyn Manson in December 2006 and split with him in November 2008. She made the headlines when she and him were claimed to have had real sex in his music video, "Heart-Shaped Glasses". However, the rocker's representative denied the sex scenes were real, saying: "It was simulated sex."
