Marilyn Monroe's pictures went on sale for 146,500 dollars and 662,500 dollars at Christie's auction house.
Although
Marilyn Monroe passed away long time ago, no one denies that she is still famous. There are more than 100 images of her, which were taken by different photographers, being offered for sale at Christie's New York on Tuesday, December 16. The sale will end on Wednesday, December 17.
A spokeswoman for Christie's house says that Monroe's 36 photos taken by Bert Stern were previously estimated to go on sale between $100,000 to $150,000. As the auction went on, the price finally reached to $146,500. The spokeswoman also adds that the pictures were the last professional images of her, which were taken in 1962, the year she died because of drug overdose.
Monroe's four other photographs also went on sale for an expensive price. The pictures which were taken by Helmut Newton, titled "They're Coming, Paris (Naked and Dressed)", sold for $662,500. The transaction of the four pictures happened on Tuesday.
Christie's has been known for maintaining its buyers' privacy. For that reason, no wonder that the auction house keeps the buyers' identity anonymous for public.
