Madonna has denied a statement that she and ex-hubby Guy Ritchie reached a multi-million dollar divorce settlement, insisting the statement was "inaccurate".
Madonna has denied a statement that she paid ex-husband Guy Ritchie a multi-million dollar settlement to secure a divorce. The 50-year-old singer insists that the statement issued on her behalf earlier this week was "misleading and inaccurate".
"We have tried to maintain a dignified silence regarding the details of our divorce for the last few months whilst accepting the obvious media interest," the divorced pair say in a joint statement, issued in London. "A misleading and inaccurate statement, specifically in relation to the sums of money involved, was wrongly issued to AP this week."
The former couple insist the divorce settlement will remain private. "The financial details of the settlement will remain private, save to say that both of us are happy with our agreement. Our primary concern, like any co-parents, is the care and well being of our children," they state.
Madonna's spokeswoman Liz Rosenberg issued a statement to the Associated Press on Monday, December 15, confirming that the singer had reached a settlement with Guy Ritchie. The "Material Girl" songstress was said to have agreed to give the director between $76 million to $96 million as a part of their divorce settlement.
