Brad Pitt turned 45 years old on Thursday, December 18. In an interview with Los Angeles Times, about his older age, he said with a smile, "I doubt time and gravity will be as kind as I was to myself." Wondering about how many years left for him, the actor revealed, "It just made me think about the ticking clock. Am I in mid-life? Am I halfway there?. . . . Do I have 10 years, five years? And so what are those moments going to be that I do know I have, which is now?"
During the interview, Pitt linked his present appearance with his appearance in "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button". He admitted that he stooped and shriveled because he was amazed with his new look, which was aided by several diminutive body doubles and some highly sophisticated CGI effects in the motion picture. "I was actually quite intrigued to see where it might be heading," Pitt said, adding that he "got to have some say" about his look if he appeared naturally on the screen.
However, director of the "Benjamin Button", David Fincher, said otherwise about Pitt's appearance. He argued that the key to the strength of Pitt's performance is the actor's ability to go to the quality. He revealed, "If you go with [the movie], I think the reason that you go with it is because, if you can imagine such a thing, I think Brad somehow manages to be an Everyman, which is on the face of it just a ludicrous notion," adding, "It's a beautiful performance. I think it's as good as he's ever been."
"The Curious Case of Benjamin Button" is about a man who is born in his eighties and ages backwards. The movie depicts the man's traveler's tale of the people and places he bumps into along the way, the loves he loses and finds, the joys of life and the sadness of death, and what lasts beyond time.
