The fans of "Desperate Housewives" are going to lose Edie Britt. ABC network confirmed that Nicollette Sheridan is in fact leaving the show. The 45-year-old actress plays blond troublemaker, Edie Britt, on the comedy-drama about domestic life on Wisteria Lane. Sheridan's rep told Extra, "She had a great time on the show and is looking forward to her next project."
As being reported by US magazine on its website on February 11, the show creator, Marc Cherry, revealed in the fifth season of the show that Sheridan's character crossed a moral boundary that "will have have devastating consequences for her and lead to a shocking conclusion to her time on Wisteria Lane."
Spoiler alert ahead. E! reported, "Edie will be involved in a car accident after she discovers her husband, Dave, is planning to kill her. Whether the car accident is fatal or not, Edie is doomed."
However, there is no further information yet on when the last episode of Sheridan will air.
This is not the first time Edie is left out of the show. She was dumped out of Wisteria Lane in season 4, but returned when the show went five years forward in the fall of 2008.
"Desperate Housewives," a top 20 show and one of ABC's most successful series, stars Teri Hatcher, Felicity Huffman, Marcia Cross, and Eva Longoria.
