M.I.A Gives Birth to Her First Baby Boy

British singer, producer, and songwriter, M.I.A., who performed "Swagger Like Us" with Jay-Z, T.I., Lil Wayne and Kanye West at the Grammy Awards on February 8, announced the labor of her baby at her MySpace Celebrity Blog. M.I.A. wrote, in all capital letters, "MY EARLY STAGE LABOUR KICKED IN AROUND 2 AM � MY BABY WAS BORN WEDNESDAY (February 11), HE IS HEALTHY, FINE, BEAUTIFUL AND THE MOST AMAZING THING EVER ON THIS PLANET, OF COURSE IM HIS MUM!!!"

This is the first baby for M.I.A, whose real name is Mathangi "Maya" Arulpragasam, and her musician fiance, Benjamin Brewer. The pregnancy was announced in October 2008. However, the name of the new baby boy hasn't been known yet.

M.I.A., was born in Britain but grew up in Sri Lanka, where her father struggled for an independent Tamil state. She achieved popularity with her second album "Kala" a cross-cultural mishmash of beats, slogans, and lyrical drama. Her single "Paper Plane" received a Grammy nomination for record of the year.
