Melanie C Welcomes First Child, a Baby Girl

Melanie C has followed in the footsteps of fellow Spice Girls - Victoria Adams, Geri Halliwell, Melanie Brown and Emma Bunton - becoming a mother. The Sporty Spice and her longtime partner Thomas Starr just welcomed a new daughter in London.

On her official website, it's announced that Melanie gave birth to her first child on Sunday, February 22. The baby weight 8 lb., 3oz. Both the 35-year-old singer and the newborn baby "are doing fine." Melanie and Thomas named their baby girl Scarlet Starr.

Last August, Melanie C confirmed on her website that she's indeed pregnant with baby number one. She wrote, "Some happy news! Well, I can now announce that Tom and I are expecting a baby and we are very happy."
