Being auditioned for the lead role in 'Footloose' remake, Chace Crawford reportedly will replace Zac Efron's position.
Chace Crawford has been auditioned over the weekend for the lead role of Ren McCormick in "
Footloose" remake. The "Goosip Girl" hunk reportedly will replace
Zac Efron in the upcoming movie. "He did really well," a source told about Chace's audition. However, a representative for the 23-year-old actor has not yet confirmed about the rumor.
Zac recently dropped out of the musical remake and the 21-year-old actor didn't address publicly his reasons to pull out of the movie. "Footloose is a project we've longed to see rebooted for a new generation. While Zac in no longer attached, we remain excited and committed to the collective brain trust of [HSM turned Footloose director] Kenny Ortega, Neil Meron and Craig Zadan, who will reinvigorate the franchise," a press release issued by Paramount Pictures stated. "Their fresh take on the film will undoubtedly be filled with the same kind of breakout performances that we've come to expect from them."
The "Footloose" musical remake is filmed based on the 1984 film with the same title. The flick is produced by Dylan Sellers, Craig Zadan, Neil Meron, and Paramount Pictures. It is set to be released in U.S. theaters in 2010.
