Though he has been called a heartthrob, Zac Efron admits that he doesn't really like his fame.
Becoming a cover model for the upcoming issue of USA Weekend magazine, which will be published on Sunday, April 12, reveals that he doesn't like his fame. "I didn't want to be famous," he says. "I get sick of seeing my own face around."

The 21-year-old heartthrob goes on admitting that he used to feel really annoyed with paparazzi and his fans. "I used to get so frustrated," he continues. "For a while, I felt like I was completely lost in celebrity-land. I didn't know how to handle it. Now I know that I have to plot where I'm going, when I'm going there and where the back entrance is. It's like I'm playing a giant game of tag."

In addition, the young actor, who recently dropped out of the leading role in "Footlose" remake, says his career currently is at "a transition point" and he expects that his new flick "" will get him "shift into adult material". "My taste is changing. I'm growing up," he testifies. "I'm definitely not the best actor in the world at this point. But hopefully, with time and effort and smart decisions, that will change."

Being asked about his childhood experience, the "High School Musical" hunk, who is dating , opens up to USA Weekend magazine, "I played sports on weekends -- baseball, basketball -- and when I sucked at those, I started playing golf and ping-pong in the garage. After I lost interest, I started singing. I was always singing to the point where my parents would shout, 'Shut up, Zac! Enough already!'"
