Video: David Cook Announcing His Brother's Death at Charity Event

Winner of "American Idol" 7th season David Cook announced the death of his older brother, Adam Cook, during the 12th Annual Race for Hope 5K event in Washington, D.C. on Sunday, May 3. Adam passed away in Terre Haute, Indiana on late Saturday, May 2 due to brain cancer, which had spread to his spine. He had battled the cancer for about 11 years. The lawyer is survived by his wife Kendra and their children.

"I actually lost my brother yesterday to a brain tumor, and I couldn't imagine being anywhere else right now," David told the crowd. "I lost one today, but I gained 9,000, and I will be here every year that they will have me."

David Cook attended the charity event, which is aimed to help brain cancer research, as he was honored to be its chairman. He and his team successfully raised 97,000 dollars for the charity.
